SoarTech Welcomes Bob Sottilare as Science Director for Intelligent Training
Soar Technology, Inc. (SoarTech) is pleased to announce that Bob Sottilare has joined the company as Science Director for our Intelligent Training business area. As the Intelligent Training division continues to expand, Bob will provide critical guidance and support, acting as a mentor to our growing team of research scientists and helping Soar Tech define our research strategies for 2019 and beyond.
“We are so excited to bring Bob on board in light of his work at the Army Research Lab STTC,” stated Dr. Denise Nicholson, VP Intelligent Training and Director of X. “At STTC, Bob led the vision as co-creator of the Generalized Intelligent Framework (GIFT) [an open source, AI-based adaptive instructional architecture] and left a legacy via his mentorship of many of today’s STTC leaders. We look forward to his insights into how we can best cultivate the strengths and capabilities of our team.”
Dr. Sottilare comes to SoarTech after a 35-year career in federal service in both Army and Navy training science and technology organizations. Bob’s experience leading adaptive training research at the US Army Research Laboratory, in the areas of automated authoring, instructional management, and analysis tools and methods for intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs), will provide valuable insights for Intelligent Training research. Dr. Sottilare was the lead editor for the Design Recommendations for Intelligent Tutoring Systems book series, founding director of the Learning in Intelligent Tutoring Environments (LITE) lab, and founding chair of GIFT Users Symposia.
