Soar Tech Congratulates Denise Nicholson on her Election to the Central Florida Chapter NDIA Board of Directors
Dr. Denise Nicholson, CMSP, VP of Intelligent Training and Director of X at Soar Technology, Inc., has just been elected to the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Chapter NDIA for a three-year term running January 2019 through December 2022. Dr. Nicholson has been an active member of Team Orlando since 1997 serving on IITSEC paper, tutorial, and scholarship committees; she is also a past Treasurer of Women in Defense (WID). Denise brings experience and insights gained as an alumna of Leadership Orlando Class 94 and as the first female Executive Board member of the Lake Highland Preparatory School Board of Trustees. Denise is passionate about paying it forward, serving as an ASPIRE mentor, Instructor for USNSCC Centurion Battalion, and the coach of the Netrunners Cyber Patriot Team.
Dr. Nicholson has a unique blend of three decades of government, academia, and industry experience. She began her government civilian career as an engineer with the USAF’s 485th Communications Group, before being selected for a research position at AFRL’s Photonics Lab in Rome, NY, and eventually being promoted to the Deputy Director of Science & Technology at NAVAIR Training Systems Division in Orlando, FL. In 2005, Denise founded the Applied Cognition and Training in Immersive Virtual Environments (ACTIVE) Laboratory at the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation and Training, where she also held joint affiliations in the Modeling and Simulation Graduate Program, Industrial Engineering and Management Department, and the College of Optics and Photonics/CREOL. Denise transitioned to industry in 2010 as the founding Director of DSCI’s Human Systems Engineering Division, then accepted the position of Director of X at SoarTech in 2014 to lead the eXploration of new intelligent systems applications. Dr. Nicholson was appointed to Vice President of Intelligent Training at Soar Technology in 2017.
The newly elected Directors will be presented to the general membership at the expected January 24, 2019 General Membership Meeting.
