SoarTech Demonstrates JITMATE at Northern Strike 24

SoarTech hosted a successful demonstration of our JITMATE application at Northern Strike 24 in Oscoda, MI. From August 5 – August 15, SoarTech Scientists Dr. Jeff Craighead and Glenn Taylor participated in the National Guard training event “Northern Strike 24” to conduct test and evaluation as part of AFRL’s JITMMA/W (Just In Time Multi-Mission Airmen/Warfighters) program. One goal of Northern Strike was to illustrate the Air Force’s Agile Combat Environment (ACE) concept, here focused on quickly training up warfighters who have never refueled an aircraft before.

During this event, our team trained Airmen and Marines on the basics of hot-pit refueling a KC-135 with an R-11 fuel truck. SoarTech demonstrated our JITMATE application, a multi-modal chat-like agent that incorporates verbal- and gesture-based interactions to guide a user through a procedure while performing the task. JITMATE utilizes SoarTech’s Autonomous Virtual Assistant (AVA) and SpeechZero to present procedure content using different output modalities, including speech, text, graphics, and augmented reality.
